The Circus Came to the Creamery District

circusCenter Arts, from Humboldt State University, brought the Zoppe’ Family Circus to the Creamery District in Arcata.  October 2-4 saw the big top erected in the Tomas field at 1275 8th Street.

The Zoppé Family Circus welcomed guests into their big tent for a one-ring circus that honors the best history of the Old-World Italian tradition. Starring Nino the clown, the circus features acrobatic feats, equestrian showmanship, canine capers, clowning and plenty of audience participation. Giovanni Zoppé, the sixth-generation circus performer who plays Nino, says “we try to touch every emotion during the performance. It’s more of an event than a show.”

Tom Perrett, owner of Tomas Jewelry said that he, “loved the circus!”  Perrett was, “so glad to see the big top tent, all the circus caravans and the Center Arts circus goers in the Creamery District.”  Cora Dandeneau, age 9, says, “I really loved the circus.  I got to meet the horses, even the miniature ones!”
