Creamery Festival 2017 August 17th thru 20th
Construction on the Arcata Rails With Trails Project has begun. Phase 1 of the paved, two direction, ADA accessible, multi-use trail will span 1.1 miles from Samoa Blvd. to the corner of Foster and Alliance Roads (Shay Park).
The section of trail passing through the Creamery District will be on the west side of the railroad tracks along L St. Two “Traffic tables” with street narrowing bulb-outs will be located at 8th Street and 9th Street.
In addition to bicycle use, the trail will provide transportation, recreation, and ultimately coastal access for pedestrians, joggers, wheelchair users, skaters, and other non-motorized users. This key trail segment is designed to reduce single occupant vehicle trips and to provide safe connectivity to major youth and family destination spots throughout the community. The trail will serve as Arcata’s through-town portion of the California Coastal Trail and the Humboldt Bay Trail.
The Humboldt Bay Trail is being planned and developed as a series of linked projects in coordination with the Humboldt County Association of Governments (HCAOG), County of Humboldt, City of Arcata, City of Eureka, California Department of Transportation (CalTrans), and the North Coast Railroad Authority (NCRA).
