Art on the Fence and The Village installations are opening at Arts Arcata! on Friday, June 10, 6-8pm at the Holly Yashi Twinkle House (1300 9th Street). Twelve local artists and students from Blue Lake School have created pieces for these exhibits.
Art on the Fence is shown on the fences at 9th and L Streets, along the Rails With Trials Bicycle Path, in the Creamery District of Arcata. The Art on the Fence installation will dress up the chain-link fences and create a sense of place in the Creamery District. Local artists were given a 4’ by 6’ sheet of plywood and paid through grant funds to create their piece.
The Village is displayed at the Arcata Playhouse, at Holly Yashi Twinkle House and at the 9th and L Street location of Art on the Fence. Students at Blue Lake School contributed pieces and local artists were paid through grant funds to create a piece that represents what a village means to them.
Refreshments will be served on Friday, June 10, from 6 to 8pm at the Holly Yashi Twinkle House, 1300 9th Street, Arcata. For more information call 822-1575, email CreameryInfo@gmail.com, or go to CreameryDistrict.org.
Grant funds for The Village and Art on the Fence were obtained from the Footprint Foundation, the California Arts Council and the Puffin Foundation.
